Rebuild Update
We are all getting very excited with the progress being made on the rebuild of Newcastle High School. The builder is on track to their planned timeline and the planning is well underway for moving into our wonderful new spaces.
Progress includes:
The construction of the new learning hub has continued to progress with the final major concrete pour of the building slab completed and the steel work complete.
The structure of the multipurpose facility is also in its final stages. Installation of the roof and external brickwork has started, with the “topping out” ceremony held this term.
External works on the sports courts and covered walkways across the school site are underway.
We are actively making plans for all students to be experiencing the benefits of learning and working within these new spaces for 2026.
For updates on the project please see this website HERE.
Star Struck
Star Struck is an annual performing arts event for Newcastle, the Hunter and Central Coast led by the NSW Department of Education. It is a showcase of dance, drama and music performed by students from Kindergarten to Year 12 from a vast network of NSW public schools. This year the theme for Star Struck is “Remixed.” NHS is again very proud to have been a part of Star Struck this year and we congratulate the students from our school who were involved in this wonderful event. A huge thank you to all our parents, carers and staff who supported our students through being ‘star struck’ this year.
Learning Focused Information Evenings
We have held a large number of information evenings in Semester 1 to encourage parent, carer and student engagement in our school curriculum, assessment, wellbeing and support programs. We are committed to continuing this personalised approach to creating a partnership with our families in the education and engagement of our students. If you have missed any of these events, please check out our website where the presentations and documents used to support these events can be found HERE.
School Reports
School reports will be uploaded and available to parents on the Newcastle High School Sentral Student and Parent Portal at the end of this term.
If you experience any difficulty accessing Sentral, please follow the prompts detailed on our website here Sentral Portal Access - Information HERE or contact the school Office for assistance.
Happy Holidays
We have had a very positive and productive Semester 1 and we wish everyone a restful and relaxing winter school holiday period. School resumes on Tuesday 22 July for Term 3. Please be advised that Monday 21 July is a pupil-free day, where the school Office is open for enquires. All teaching staff are engaged in preparations and planning for the new school term.
