As this is my first Faculty Focus inclusion, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Neil Mahaffey and I am the new Head Teacher CAPA at NHS. I was born and bred in Newcastle and for the past twenty years worked at Griffith High School (now Murrumbidgee Regional High School) firstly as a Music Teacher, and for the last ten years as Head Teacher CAPA. I would like to express my sincere thanks to everyone at NHS, especially the CAPA staff, for their support and making me feel so welcomed.
I have recently had the pleasure of meeting some of the parents at the Year Seven Meet the Teacher session and I look forward to building further positive relationships with the school community in the near future.
2021 is shaping up to be a busy and exciting year and the CAPA staff are enthusiastic to help all students realise their creativity and explore the wonderful world of the Arts.
