Bill Turner Cup

Congratulations to our Bill Turner Cup soccer team on an outstanding result coming 3^rd in this prestigious National event. Over 400 teams competed from around Australia, including schools from Cairns to Melbourne. To win third place nationally, we defeated the top placed sports high in the state!  A big thank you for our wonderful coaches, Michael Kondov and Andrew Doherty for their support, expertise and commitment to the team.

As another exceptional achievement from the event, we recognise Levi S. who was awarded the prestigious Bill Turner Spirit of Football Award. Bill Turner valued participation, sportsmanship and commitment; to him football was more about character than ability and success. The Spirit of Football Award honours players whose approach to the game exemplifies values that Bill prized. Each year only one player from the semifinals series is honoured with the award based. Well done, Levi!

Isaac Lourie AFL Cup

The annual Isaac Lourie Cup was held on Friday 30 August at No. 1 Sports Field, Newcastle City, in loving memory of our former student Isaac who tragically passed away.

Newcastle High School's Girls and Boys AFL teams were both victorious against our archrivals Merewether High School in the Cup.  Both teams played exceptionally well, with Newcastle High School (NHS) winning both matches convincingly.

NHS music students entertained the huge crowd throughout the night, helping create a fun filled atmosphere amongst the community in attendance, which represented the way Isaac lived his life – loving his mates, family, sport and music.
