Road Safety

Road Safety Image

Road safety is everyone's responsibility

At our school, we are surrounded by busy, inner city roads and intersections.  It is our collective responsibility to continually teach our kids about the safe use of our roads.  We believe it is important to share road safety information with parents and carers, so you can reinforce safe behaviours when out and about with your children and reinforce the messages we teach at school about safety.  Parents and carers are a child's first teacher and are responsible for modelling safe road user behaviours as children naturally imitate the adult's around them.

We all need to reinforce and practice:

  • using safe travel routes
  • modelling how to be a safe road user
  • following road rules and the road signs
  • creating safe environments
  • assisting students to become independent travellers.

Whether your child walks, rides a vehicle, travels by car or catches a bus, train, ferry or tram – please ensure you are discussing safe travel to and from school regularly.  We thank our P&C for their on-going advocacy to have pedestrian crossings installed around our school, with details of this campaign found on our website HERE.  We also send you our gratitude for your support in this collective responsibility to reinforce safe travel.
