As Term 4 draws close to an end, we are busy analysing students’ learning data to support our personalised planning for 2024 and preparing Yearly Reports. Looking at our individual student growth and whole school performance data, it is important to highlight to our school community that Newcastle High School is performing very well; and our students are positioned to fly in whatever their goals may be! I encourage all students to find belonging and purpose in life-long learning at our school; and participate in the academic, cultural, leadership, sporting and social life of the school culture each day.
Included in this report is a whole school analysis of our literacy, numeracy and science data from standardised testing this year. Our Year 10 students who have just completed the VALID science testing are to be highly commended for the outstanding results they have achieved again this year, as shown in their above state average outcomes and performance. NHS is shown in green on the graph included in this report, representing our students’ excellent achievement above the State and similar school groups (SSSG). We also rigorously analyse our individual student data from a raft of school-based information to support our planning for learning growth in 2024, and we look forward to supporting all students grow and reach their goals next year. The Higher School Certificate (HSC) results will be released on 14 December, and these will be reported on in full in 2024.

Re-build Update
Our re-build plans and preparations are in full swing, as we eagerly await the final building approvals. The allocated building company will soon arrive on site to start the transformation of our beautiful school. In Week 7, the demountable buildings started to arrive and we are currently planning for the relocation of classrooms and staffrooms out of old B Block, which is earmarked for demolition. These new temporary rooms and new toilets will be operational to commence Term 1 next year. I assure our school community that our focus is on ensuring we navigate the build without disruption to teaching and learning, as we navigate the next steps to welcome in the builders. Please keep up to date with the build through following this website and updates coming through our school communication platforms.
