Welcome and Farewell

·  At the beginning of Term 1 we welcomed Mr Tony Surace as Head Teacher of Mathematics. He comes to our school with a wealth of experience and knowledge. We are looking forward to the positive changes that will come with his appointment.

·  We would also like to thank Mrs Samone Dinnery for her role as relieving Head Teacher for the past year and Mr Daniel Walker for his work during Term 1.

The Mathematics faculty utilises this platform, ensuring that all students have access to a variety of resources to enhance their learning. Students would benefit by accessing these resources at school and are encouraged to bring their own device.

Do you need help with Mathematics?

There are a number of ways in which students can access help with their maths at Newcastle High School.

 ·  Maths Breakfast – drop-in anytime from 7:45 am until school starts on Wednesday mornings in Room 25.

·  Senior Study – Stage 6 students have access to a maths teacher during their study periods in the library.

·  Many online learning tools and websites. View the NHS Mathematics webpage for links.

·  And our staff are always happy to help at anytime.

Responsibility

Equipment that is essential for all mathematical lessons:

· Maths workbook and pens.

·  Calculator – Mobile phones are not acceptable. They may be purchased from the front office at a cheaper price than what is available elsewhere.

· Textbook – Mathematics Advanced and Mathematics Extension 1 students are required to purchase their own copy of the set text.
