Safety to and From School

At the beginning of the school year, I strongly encourage you to please have a conversation with your child(ren) about safety to and from school. Students at our school use all forms of transport to come in and out of the city, including vehicles, public transport, bikes, skateboards and scooters; all of which have specific risks associated with them.  I encourage you to have these conversations about safety, Plan B, road awareness, traffic, strangers, etc. to ensure safety, wellbeing and the management of risk in the city context.

Parents who use the vehicle drop off/pick up areas of the school, please note the parking signage around our site and take care to slow down for the safety of our children.

Please see the following link for road safety advice:

Scooters, Skateboards and Bikes

We have a significant number of students travelling to and from school on bikes, scooters and skateboards.  The school encourages and supports the active lifestyle these transport methods represent, in support of those parents and students who choose to use these forms of transport to and from school.  While the use of these items is supported, they have a significant management issue when brought onto our school site, with implications for work, health and safety practices.  We do not have a purpose built, sheltered area for these items in the volume we are presented with each day.  The area designated for all bikes, scooters and skateboards is the cricket nets enclosure near the Canteen.

Students and families are reminded that bringing these items to school is at the risk of the owner, including for theft or damage.  Students are encouraged to bring their own lock and protection bags for any item they choose to bring onto the school site, which must be stored in the cricket nets area.  Your understanding and cooperation with managing this challenge is greatly appreciated.
