School Captains and Prefect Induction

School Captains and Prefects 2019-2020

Student Leadership

Students from Years 10 and 11 were invited to apply for our school captain and prefect positions early last term. Students were required to submit a written application and spoke to their peers and teachers about why they would be a successful student leader at Newcastle High School. All staff and students from Years 10 and 11 voted late last term.

Induction

On Tuesday 15 October we held our 2019/20 school captain and prefect induction assembly, where the school captains and vice-captains were announced. I would like to congratulate the students that applied for a leadership position. It can be quite daunting speaking in front of your peers and staff, however, all students spoke with confidence and put forward a great case as to why they should be a student leader.

Congratulations to Chelsea Bolton and Lachlan Brown who were elected as school captains for 2019/20 and Lucy White and Matthew Hedges as vice captains. All four students have repeatedly demonstrated strong leadership qualities in the school and I have great confidence that Chelsea, Lachlan, Lucy and Matthew will be outstanding role models in the school community. I look forward to working with them to continually improve the school and ensure student voice is a strong contributor to decisions made at Newcastle High School.

Being elected to the school leadership team, indicates that the school community believes that each person has the personal attributes to work hard and represent the school in a positive manner. Congratulations to all students in our newly elected leadership team, I look forward to working with them over the next twelve months.

Thank you,

Mrs Rochelle Dooley

Principal (Rel.)
