Transport has been advised that due to extreme weather conditions that are predicted over the weekend and early next week, buses will not be able to travel on Church St [Nelson Bay]. This is due to the possibility of the road tearing before the final seal is laid on Wednesday night. As a result of this, the normal routes in the Nelson Bay area will not resume until Thursday 3rd December.
Transport received word from Port Stephens Council that:
Tomaree Rd [Shoal Bay] – Buses will return to their normal routes as of Monday 30 November
The roadworks will severely impact the majority of the route and school services and diversions have been put in place. This involves the closure of some bus stops and temporary bus stops put in place.
Due to the closure in Church St (including Donald St intersection):
ALL services that would normally use Government Rd (the section of road in-between Seaham St & Church St) will be diverted along Wahgunyah Rd/Nelson St/Tomaree St.
ALL services that use Church St will be using Tomaree St/Yacaaba St.
The main bus stops in Donald St (at Woolworths & opposite) will be relocated to Yacaaba St, near corner of Donald St
Additional bus stop will be installed in Tomaree St before Nelson St
Bus zone will be added to Wahgunyah Rd (opposite St Michaels Primary) – Note - student drop off or pickup at St Michaels Primary will not change.
