Good Luck Year 12, Year 12 Formal & Graduation, Semester 1 Excellence Awards, Term 3 P&C, School Redevelopment Update and Public Education Week 2024
Good Luck Year 12
Year 12 students will complete their Trial Higher School Certificate (HSC) examinations in Weeks 3-4 this term and we wish them all the very best. The Trial HSC is a significant milestone for them, as this represents the final part of our school-based assessment.
Term 3 is a pivotal time for Year 12, finalising content, consolidating skills and knowledge, engaging in revision, and fine-tuning understandings. It is crucial that students remain focused, motivated, and energised in Term 3 leading into the HSC examination period, as we work together to make every minute count.
Thank you for our community’s full support of HSC Excellence at NHS.
Year 12 Formal and Graduation
The Year 12 Graduation and Formal preparations are well underway for Week 10, with our students actively involved in the planning for this celebration of their school journey coming to an end. Our school Formal preparations have been ongoing all year, with a reminder that parents/carers are invited to the start of our Formal, in acknowledgement of the critical role our families play in students’ school achievements. Invitations for the Formal have been sent to Year 12 directly. We look forward the end of our term being full of lasting memories for Year 12, as we prepare to farewell the newest alumni of Newcastle High School.
Semester 1 Excellence Awards
This term we will celebrate the Semester 1 achievements of our students through the Excellence Awards, held during Year Assemblies. Our award recipients will receive recognition for academic excellence, leadership, citizenship and outstanding attendance. The culture of our school is enriched by all of our students who strive to demonstrate our core values through their positive behaviour every day. Well done to the students receiving this recognition of excellence. We will publish the names of award recipients as each Year Assembly is held throughout the term.
Thank you, NHS P&C
Last term the P&C donated a substantial sum of money to improve the outdoor seating for our students. We purchased 20 new tables and chairs for our playground and this term, students have started to use these new tables.
Thank you NHS P&C!
Term 3 P&C Meeting
Our Term 3 P&C Meeting will be held on Monday 19 August, in the school Library 5:30pm-7pm. The meeting will be held face-to-face. The school focus areas to report on will be Bring Your Own Device (BYOD), Reading and Numeracy. In addition there will be an update regarding the major infrastructure works related to our redevelopment. We look forward to welcoming new and existing P&C members to the meeting.
School Redevelopment Update
There has been a great deal of progress with the school redevelopment works over the past few months, which has been very exciting for the school community. Buildings have been demolished, services upgraded, and many earthworks have been completed in preparation for the footings for our new buildings.
Communication with our Redevelopment Delivery Team and Builder Hansen Yuncken has been regular and consistent, supporting us managing the school throughout construction. The P&C is kept up dated about the school re-build at our termly meetings and there is a P&C Representative on the PRG Meeting Team.
Formal updates and announcements regarding the school re-development come directly to parents/carers from the NSW School Infrastructure Delivery Team (not Newcastle High School) sent to you via your family email accounts recorded in School Bytes. If you have any questions, please contact SINSW directly by emailing schoolinfrastructure@det.nsw.edu.au or calling 1300 482 651 (Monday to Friday during business hours).
We are looking forward to soon starting to see the new buildings coming out of the ground.
Public Education Week 2024
Public Education Week will be held from 5-9 August 2024 celebrating the theme: Proud to belong. Education Week is an annual celebration of NSW public education and the achievements of our schools, teachers, and students. Newcastle High School is proud of our delivery of excellence in education in the learning community of the Newcastle network of school.
