Students at CHC are enrolled in NESA patterns of study.

However, all learning is personalised and project-based, enabling students to pursue their interests while developing the knowledge and skills required by the NSW curriculum. Each student’s learning program is carefully designed so that their individualised projects and learning experiences are backward mapped to NESA syllabus outcomes, ensuring that academic requirements are met while maintaining a focus on authentic, meaningful learning.

While students remain enrolled in NESA courses, the flexible nature of the CHC model allows them to access a range of additional learning pathways. This includes opportunities such as TAFE courses, School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs), and other external learning experiences that align with their interests and future goals.

The central focus of learning at CHC is students working towards the International Big Picture Learning Credential (IBPLC). Through individualised Personal Interest Projects, students investigate topics connected to their passions and future pathways. Academic rigour is developed by analysing and reflecting on their work through the Big Picture Learning Frames: Empirical Reasoning, Communication, Quantitative Reasoning, Social Reasoning, Knowing How to Learn, and Personal Qualities.

By applying these lenses to their projects, students demonstrate deep understanding, critical thinking, and real-world application of their learning, building a portfolio of evidence that showcases both their academic achievement and their readiness for future study, work, and life beyond school.
