Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) is mandatory from Kindergarten to Year 10. PDHPE provides students with opportunities to explore issues that will impact the health, safety and wellbeing of themselves and others, now and in the future. Students also participate in challenging and enjoyable physical activity, improving their capacity to move with skill and confidence. In Y11 and Y12 we offer two courses: 'PDHPE Sport' and 'Lifestyle and Recreation Studies'.

Goals

  • develop confidence, resilience, knowledge and skills through engagement in PDHPE
  • encourage a Growth Mindset to learning
  • promote a healthy, safe & active lifestyle

Features

  • students are required to change into the Newcastle High Sport & PE Uniform for each practical lesson
  • students are required to provide a work book and writing equipment for all theoretical aspects of the course
  • participation is expected in learning activities
  • utilises local sports facilities such as Newcastle Rowing Club, Newcastle Croquet, Empire Park, Genesis, The Forum, Stockton Pool
