Important Notice for Applicants as at 5/6/20.

Dear Parents/Caregivers.

In order to support parents and students in their application to the NHS Young Achievers Class, we are planning on administering the ICAS Exam in week 10 of term 2.  Due to the current restrictions, we are unable to conduct the exam on our school grounds in such large numbers, instead, we are hoping to have the exam administered at each local Primary School at a specific time and date in week 10. The exact date and time is yet to be determined and will be communicated to everyone early next week. Those students from “Out of Zone” and not attending a local feeder school, will be able to sit the exam at NHS, due to the very small number of these applicants.

In order for this to occur, we ask that all parents and caregivers pay the $20 ICAS Exam fee to the NHS Front Office by next Thursday 11th June, 2020. This will allow us to order the exact number of exams required, distribute them to the local Primary Schools and have the test administered by week 10. On the day of the exam, students will also be required to submit their "Portfolio" to the Exam Coordinator.  These will be collected by NHS Staff at the conclusion of the exam.

Thank you very much for your support during this challenging time. I hope that this process will alleviate any stress or concerns you have about your child's transition to high school in 2021. Please do not hesitate to contact Joel Anderson - High Potential and Gifted Education Team Leader, if you have any issues or concerns.
